Missing Baltimore County Man Found Dead in a Harford Creek

Edward Jackson, 72, of Rossville, had been the subject of a Silver Alert.

A 72-year-old man who had been reported missing in Baltimore County was found dead Tuesday in a car partially submerged in a creek in Harford County, Maryland State Police confirmed.

Edward Jackson, of the 5000 block of Brightleaf Court in Rossville in eastern Baltimore County, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant in his car.

Jackson was last seen at 5:30 a.m. Monday leaving the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore. Prior to the discovery of his body, he had been the subject of a Silver Alert by the Baltimore County Police Department.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Maryland State Police's Bel Air barracks received a call from a man walking northbound on Route 165/Pylesville Road, just north of Wheeler School Road in Harford County. The man noticed tire tracks in the grass leading to a grey 2003 Mercedes that was partially submerged in Broad Creek.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found Jackson inside the car, which was about 75 yards from the road. A registration check identified Jackson as the victim.

County police had issued the Silver Alert for Jackson early Tuesday, as he had suffered various medical conditions that required daily medication. Police believe he may have become confused or lost.

Responding officers, with the assistance of the State Highway Administration, closed Route 165 for two hours between Wheeler School and Whiteford roads.
