Middle River Woman Charged in Bank Robbery

A man and woman charged with armed robbery in Westminster Friday may have attempted to rob a bank in Reisterstown Thursday, police say.

A man and woman charged in an armed bank robbery in Westminster are believed to have also attempted a bank robbery in Reisterstown, Baltimore County police said.

Gregory Steven Horn, 38, of Glen Burnie, and Kelly Nicole Smith, 23, of Middle River, are both facing armed robbery, theft and gun charges Friday morning, Westminster Police said.

While charges have not yet been filed in Baltimore County, commander Captain Matt McElwee said the two are believed to be the pair that on Thursday.

The two came away with nothing from the Reisterstown bank on the 11000 block of Resiterstown Road when they apparently grew impatient and ran out before their demands were met, police Lt. Stephen Doarnberger said.

"We believe they are responsible for our incident at the BB&T," McElwee said. "We're working with [Maryland] State Police and Westminster City [police]. The investigation is ongoing."

Horn and Smith were arrested Friday after a police pursuit that started in Westminster, continued west on Route 31 and ultimately ended when Horn finally pulled his light blue Ford Explorer over in Frederick County.

Police said witnesses told them that armed robbers left the Farmers and Merchants Bank matching the description of Horn's vehichle just before noon Friday, causing police to pursue the vehicle when it initially refused to stop.

Officers from the state police, Westminster police and Carroll County Sheriff's Office were all involved in the pursuit.

In Westminster, Smith walked into the bank to ask about a job, police said. Shortly after she left, a man wearing a ski mask entered, announced the robbery and showed a pistol, police said.

The two left with more than $1,000 cash, police said.

In Reisterstown, both suspects entered the BB&T Bank and the man kept one hand in a pocket, implying he had a gun, before apparently deciding their demands were not being met quickly enough ran out of the building.
