Man Seriously Injured in Baltimore Yacht Club Boat Fire

Fire officials said two women suffered moderate injuries in the Saturday afternoon blaze.

One man was seriously burned and two women suffered moderate burns in a Saturday afternoon boat fire at the Baltimore Yacht Club, Baltimore County fire officials said.

Lt. Jay Ringgold of the Baltimore County Fire Department said a mechanical failure in a boat caused an explosion at 800 Baltimore Yacht Club Road around 2 p.m. Saturday. The three people on the boat were hurt in the fire. One male suffered serious burns and two women suffered moderate burns. All three were transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center's burn unit.

Fire officials were able to extinguish the fire using foam, Ringgold said. The Maryland Department of the Environment is currently on the scene cleaning up any fuel spilled.
