Man Killed by CSX Train; Same-Sex Couples Eligible for Federal Benefits and Baltimore's Dubious Distinction

1. A man was killed Saturday morning after he jumped or fell off of a CSX train in Lansdowne. Police believe the man was killed when he was pulled under the freight train.

2. Legally married same-sex couples are now eligible for federal benefits as a result of a Supreme Court decision last month striking down the federal Defense of Marriage Act. Employees must update their enrollment status by Aug. 26.

3. Some Baltimore City Councilmembers are upset over recently announced command changes within the Baltimore City Police Department and Ryan O'Doherty, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake spokesperson, is leaving for a new gig with Mercy Hospital.

4. A dubious distinction for the Baltimore area as state records show that metropolitan area is home to the top 20 longest sewage spills over the last four years.
