Large Brush Fire Reported Near Gunpowder State Park

No injuries were reported in a Monday morning brush fire at Aberdeen Proving Grounds adjacent to Gunpowder State Park.

According to a news release from the Baltimore County Fire Department, a call for the fire at 7000 Graces Quarters Road received around 11:15 a.m. The fire spread along an access road to the proving grounds, covering three to five acres.

Fire department officials reported that 25 pieces of fire equipment were on hand to battle the blaze, including a tank truck from Martin State Airport, rehab units and air support.

No residential neighborhoods or other structures were endangered but the fire could be seen from waterfront neighborhoods and the Hammerman area of Gunpowder State Park, according to the release.

The fire was reported under control by 12:57 p.m., department officials said.
