Essex Man Stabbed in Attempted Robbery
The victim was stabbed twice in the shoulder during the attack, police said.
A 28-year-old man was stabbed during an attempted armed robbery early Sunday morning in Essex.
According to police reports, the victim bought a pack of cigarettes around 1:50 a.m. from the Gulf gas station, located at the corner of Eastern Blvd. and Stemmers Run Road. As he left, a man approached him and asked for a lighter before brandishing a knife and demanding money, the report continued.

The victim told police that a fight ensued, during which he was stabbed twice in the shoulder. The attacker ran away without stealing any money.
According to the report, the victim described the suspect as a black man, 25-30 years old, 5-foot-8 to 6-foot tall, 150-180 pounds. He also had a mustache and short black hair, wore a plain black hooded sweatshirt with grey sweat pants and a black bandanna with white designs over his face.

Police said the victim was transported to Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
