Essex Man Sentenced Over 20 Years For Carjacking

Antonio Daniel McGhee was sentenced for carjacking, robbery and firearms charges in a 2012 incident.

An Essex man was sentenced to over 20 years in prison Thursday for carjacking a delivery truck in Virginia, the Associated Press reports, via The Washington Post.

According to the AP report, U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride said Antonio Daniel McGhee was sentenced to 244 months in prison for a June conviction that included carjacking, robbery and firearms charges.

According to the AP, McGhee and an accomplice (who has been convicted, but not yet sentenced) carjacked a Sears delivery truck delivering appliances in Hampton, VA in January 2012. A Sears sub-contractor told the two that the truck was coming, and posed as a victim. While McGhee and his accomplice took the appliances from the truck, the driver was handcuffed, duct-taped and blindfolded, according to the AP.
