UPDATE: Essex House Fire Quickly Controlled, 2 Injured

Emergency crews responded to the 1700 block of Middleborough Road on Tuesday.

UPDATE (Aug. 14, 3:18 p.m.)—Two adults were injured during a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Essex, police said.

At about 1:42 p.m. on Aug. 14, emergency crews responded to the 1700 block of Middleborough Road, where a fire was visible from the second floor of a home. The fire was "knocked" shortly after 2 p.m., although about 10 peices of fire equipment remained on the scene, according to Baltimore County police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher.

A 47-year-old woman and 57-year-old man were inside the house during the fire and were each taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation, Rogers-Feher said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
