UPDATE: Essex House Fire Contained, Children 'Accounted For'

Firefighters battled the blaze Monday morning.

UPDATE (10:07 a.m.)—Emergency crews contained a severe Essex house fire by about 9:45 a.m. Monday, Baltimore County police confirmed.

Firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Waterview Way around 9 a.m. after reports of smoke and fire coming out of the second and third floors of the home, according to police spokeswoman Susan Hunt.

Two adults and three children live in the home, and emergency crews originally believed that the children were trapped inside. They were all were "accounted for" by the time the fire was brought under control, Hunt said.

One person was injured and taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, she said, but no further information was available on the victim.
