Essex Crime: Women Robbed at Knifepoint in Home Invasion

Two men wearing ski masks invaded a home last week on the 2100 block of Oakland Road and robbed two women at knifepoint.

According to police reports, the women, ages 22 and 47, were in the home when they heard someone enter through an unlocked rear door. The suspects pulled a knife, demanded valuables, took a purse, assaulted the women and fled.

Kittendale Circle, 600 block, Nov. 27, between 5:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Various pieces of jewelry were stolen from a bedroom after the thief entered the residence through a rear sliding door. Total loss: $4,334.

Middleborough Road, 1100 block, Nov. 24-25. A moped was stolen from the fenced-in yard of the home. Total loss: $2,500.

Middleborough Road, 1900 block, Nov. 24, 5 p.m. Money, jewelry and prescription medication were stolen from an office connected to the Silverdome Lounge. According to police reports, surveillance video showed a man, about 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds wearing an olive green hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up and an olive green backpack, enter the parking lot about the time of the theft.

S. Hawthorne Road, unit block, Nov. 21-24. A diamond watch and several other pieces of jewelry were stolen out of the home. Total loss: $3,000.

Seawall Road, 700 block, Nov. 23-24.  A motor scooter was stolen from a fenced-in back yard. Total loss: $500.

Sandalwood Road, 900 block, Nov. 22, 10:15 p.m.  Two unknown men kicked in the front door of a home and stole a pack of cigarettes. The homeowner heard the suspects enter the home and saw them running toward South Marlyn Avenue.

Bird River Road, 10100 block, Nov. 19-21. A computer was stolen from a vacant house after someone entered the home through a rear window. Total loss: $150.
