Essex Crime: Three Homes Burglarized in New Development

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Three Essex homes under construction were burglarized between Sept. 14 and Sept. 15, according to Baltimore County Police reports.

The homes are located along the 900 block of Gladway Road in the Sheman’s Enclave community and owned by Ryan Homes, according to police reports.

One home had six interior/exterior light fixtures stolen, while another had 12 rolls of window flashing tape taken. A mini-refrigerator was taken from a construction trailer.

A representative from Ryan Homes told police he locked the deadbolt to the trailer and set the alarm. However, when he arrived on the site, the alarm had not been triggered and the door to the trailer was locked.

Dorsey Ave., 400 block, Sept. 19.  A moped was stolen from the yard of the home. Total loss: $650.

Eastern Blvd., 900 block, Sept. 18. Around 10:20 a.m., officers were approached about a possible in the roadway. The Baltimore County Fire Department and bomb squad were called and the item was deemed safe.

Firethorn Road, 200 block, Sept. 18. An unknown male suspect was caught inside the victim’s home around 2:45 a.m. The victim chased the suspect before losing him in the darkness. The suspect escaped with a set of keys.

S. Hawthorne Road, unit block, Sept. 16. Between 4 p.m. and 6:50 p.m., an unknown male suspect stole an Xbox 360, video games and jewelry from a home. Total loss: $8,990.

Middleborough Road, 1800 block, Sept. 15. Jewelry, a DVD player and coins were stolen from a home. Total loss: $440.

Wampler Road, 100 block, Sept. 14-15. An air conditioner and two shotguns were stolen from a vacant home after someone pried the molding off a side door to enter the house. Total loss: $450.

Seneca Garden Road, 700 block, Sept. 14-15. An orange leaf blower was stolen from a shed after someone cut two padlocks to gain entrance into the building. Total loss: $200

Maple Avenue, 1300 block, Sept. 14. Four unknown suspects loaded a dual jet ski trailer from a driveway and escaped in a white Chevy pickup truck. Total loss: $300.

Red Lion Road, 10800 block, Sept. 14. A 32-inch TV, a PlayStation 3 video game console, laptop computer and various CDs were stolen from the home after someone broke the glass to the basement door in order to enter the residence. Total loss: $2,125.

Bowleys Quarters Road, 300 block, Sept. 13. Several feet of copper wire was stolen and an air conditioning unit was destroyed at a vacant home. According to reports, neighbors witnessed a female, 30-40 years old, about 5-foot and 200 pounds pull into the driveway with an SUV, load material into the vehicle and drive off “in a hurry.”

Lanotion Road, 600 block, Sept. 13. A desktop computer and a 26-inch flat screen TV were taken from an apartment. Total loss: $1,225.

Rumelia Circle, unit block, Sept. 12. A purple children’s bicycle was stolen from the front yard of the home. Total loss: $89.99.

Eddystone Place, unit block, Sept. 11. Adult and children’s clothing was stolen from a storage shed in an apartment building.  Total loss: $800.
