Essex Crime: Thieves Targeting Sheds; Several Armed Robberies Reported

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

June 9: Armed robbery—gun, 2800 block of Eastern Boulevard, 21220

At 9:16 p.m., the suspect entered the Captain's Cafe with a rifle and demanded money. The suspect fled after the clerk complied. The suspect is a white male, 25 to 35 years old, and 5-foot-8.

June 9: First-degree assault, 11400 block of Eastern Boulevard, 21220

At 5:05 p.m., an officer responded to an apartment for a neighbor complaint. The suspect opened the door and pointed a black rifle with a scope on the top directly at the officer. The officer drew his weapon and ordered the suspect to drop the weapon. The suspect complied and was taken into custody. The gun was found to be a pellet gun. Richard Whitt, 55, was arrested and charged with assault.

At 12:41 p.m., the suspect walked into TD Bank and handed the teller a note implying that he had a weapon. The suspect fled after taking money from the teller. The suspect is a white male, 20 to 29 years old, and 6-foot-1.

June 9: Armed robbery—gun, 1000 block of Old Eastern Avenue, 21221

At 12:35 p.m., the suspect entered Vargas Restaurant armed with a gun. The suspect grabbed the cash register and fled on foot. The suspect is a black man, in his 20s, 5-foot-2, 140 pounds, with a dark complexion.

June 8: Home invasion, unit block of Banca Place, 21220

At 7:35 p.m., the suspect knocked on the victim's door. When the victim opened the door, the suspects forced their way in. One suspect was armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded money and drugs. The suspects were arrested after a brief foot chase. Mark Richardson, 43, of the unit block of Cambridge Court, 21244, and Domonic Baker-Smith, 19, of the 1400 block of Essextown Circle, 21221, were charged.

June 8: Fourth-degree burglary, 400 block of Riverside Drive, 21221

Between 12:30 and 9 a.m., an unknown suspect pried a lock off a shed belonging to the Hawks Pleasure Club. Folding chairs were taken.

June 6 to June 7: Attempted second-degree burglary, 1400 block of Waterford Road, 21221

Between 10 p.m. on June 6 and 6 a.m. on June 7, an unknown suspect forced shed doors from the frame. Nothing appeared to be missing.

June 6 to June 7: Attempted second-degree burglary, 1400 block of Sussex Road, 21221

Between 10 p.m. on June 6 and 6 a.m. on June 7, an unknown suspect forced shed doors from the frame. Nothing appeared to be missing.

June 6 to June 7: Second-degree burglary, 600 block of Tampa Road, 21221

Between 10 p.m. on June 6 and 6 a.m. on June 7, an unknown suspect forced shed doors from the frame. Two dirt bikes were taken.

June 5: First-degree assault/police-involved shooting, 11100 block of Pulaski Highway, 21162

At 5:17 p.m., officers responded to investigate a first-degree assault. The suspect was fatally shot by officers after the suspect attempted to take the service weapon of one of the arresting officers. More details are available in  previously published stories.

May 31 to June 1: Fourth-degree burglary, 1000 block of South Marlyn Avenue, 21221

Between 2:30 p.m. on May 31 and 5:15 a.m. on June 1, a maintenance worker observed a neighbor leaving a vacant house. Nothing was stolen or damaged.

May 31: Armed Robbery—gun, 100 block of Back River Neck Road, 21221

At 11:06 a.m., the suspect entered Pizza Boli's armed with a gun. He demanded money from the safe. The suspect fled after taking money from the safe and the cash register. The suspect is a white male, 25 to 30 years old, 6-foot-6, and 250 pounds.

May 31: Robbery, Middle River Road and Clover Avenue, 21220

At 3:08 a.m., the victim was walking to the store when he was assaulted by several suspects. The suspects punched him and took a phone, iPod, and lighter. Dontell Hopewell, 19, of the unit block of Old Knife Court, 21220, Tyquan Holloway, 27, of the 2800 block of Brookert Drive, 21225, Stephon Stinnett, 19, of the 2100 block of Redthorn Road, 21220, and Derrick Mace, 18, of the 700 block of Sherman Road, 21220, were arrested and charged with robbery.

May 31: Armed robbery—gun, 1000 block of South Marlyn Avenue, 21221

At 12:30 a.m., a man reported that he was in bed when the suspect struck him with a gun and stole items from the bedroom. The suspect is a black male, 20 to 25 years old.

May 30 to June 3: Second-degree burglary, unit block of Torque Way, 21220

Between 3 p.m. on May 30 and 10 a.m. on June 3, a man used a rock to break a door glass to enter a home under construction. The suspect took power tools. He was arrested after a contractor reported that the suspect was trying to sell him stolen tools. Theodore Wdzieczny, 19, of the unit block of Chandelle Road, 21220, was charged with burglary.

May 30: Second-degree burglary, 400 block of Eastern Avenue, 21221

Between 4:55 and 6:48 a.m., two men broke into the Friends Bar and Grill and stole alcohol from the store. Anthony Stuart, 20, and Harry Revty, 22, both of no fixed address, were arrested nearby and charged.
