Teen Arrested After Making Fake Bomb Threat

The Essex Library had to be evacuated and traffic was diverted after teen allegedly called 911 with threat, police said.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested after making a fake bomb threat against the Essex library last week.

According to Baltimore County police reports, two boys were outside the library, located at 1110 Eastern Ave., around 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 17 and each dared the other to make a prank phone call. One of the boys then allegedly called 911 and told the operator that he was going to blow up the library at 10 a.m., police said.

Police then arrived at the library and ordered it evacuated. The library was evacuated and traffic at adjacent was diverted for more than an hour so bomb detecting K9 dogs could determine if there were any explosives on the scene.
