Essex Crime: Neighbor Stops ATV Theft

Three men attempted to steal an ATV Sunday from a home on the 1000 block of Bowleys Quarters Road in Middle River, police said.

According to a police report, three men attempted to push the ATV out of the driveway around 3:30 p.m. when a witness approached the three. The men then abandoned the ATV and ran toward Boweys Quarters Road.

Police said the witness could only provide a partial description of two of the men.

Compass Road, unit block, between 7 p.m. Jan. 20 and 1:30 p.m. Feb. 2: Three TVs, a stereo system, electric guitar, shoes, DVD player, jeans, power tools and gold watches were reported stolen after someone pried open the back window and entered the home. The victim had not been home for two weeks. Total loss: $7,960.

Handsworth Place, 1200 block, between 12:30 p.m. Feb. 1 and 2:44 p.m. on Feb.  2: About $50 in quarters was reported stolen after someone broke into the coin box of an apartment building washing machine. Total loss: $50

Bayner Road, 1000 block, between 7:30 and 11 p.m. Feb. 1: A TV, DVD player, jewelry and silverware were reported stolen from a home after someone broke the glass pane of the kitchen door to enter the house. Total loss: $9,400.

Kelly Case Lane, 1200 block, between 7 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Jan. 30: An electronic adapter and a pair of shoes delivered to a home were reported stolen off the front porch. Total loss: $57.

Hillpine Road, 900 block, between 8 a.m. Jan. 23 and 4 p.m. Jan. 30: Five chain saws, two weed eaters and hedge clippers and a leaf blower were reported stolen from a shed. Total loss: $5,905.
