Essex Crime: Man Assaulted Near Bus Stop

A 55-year-old man was attacked and robbed by three unknown males after he got off a bus in Essex Sunday morning.

The victim told police that the three young men, who he believed were 15-18 years old, approached him from behind around 3 a.m. on the 1100 block of Middleborough Road. According to police reports, the victim was then attacked with a stick before the trio stole the man’s cell phone and wallet.

Police said the three attackers ran toward Eddystone Road. The victim’s bank and membership cards were later located in a nearby wooded area.

Red Bud Court, unit block, between 7 p.m. May 1 and noon May 4: A central air conditioning unit was removed from the back yard of a home. Total loss: $4,300.

Eastern Blvd, 400 block, 1:18 a.m. May 4: Two unknown males shattered the side window of the Glod Mine pawn shop and stole 28 video games and a laptop computer. Total loss: $1,010.

Eiffel Court, unit block, 8:25 p.m. May 4: A 17-year-old boy told police three unknown males assaulted him and stole his cell phone and rosary. The victim told police the males approached him from behind and chased him before they assaulted and robbed him. Total loss: $301. 

Nautical Circle, 1300 block, 5:20 p.m. May 3: A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with burglary after a witness saw him allegedly take a bicycle from the yard of a home. The boy was later released into the care of his older sister.

Crafton Road, unit block, between 1 and 10:30 p.m. May 2: Two handguns were stolen from a home after someone forced open a front door. Total loss: $200.

Folz Ave., 1500 block, between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.: An iPod and two jars of change were stolen from a home.
