Crime Beat: Police Investigate Pair of Apartment Burglaries

Baltimore County police are investigating a pair of burglaries Saturday at an apartment complex.

According to police reports, an unknown suspect pried open an apartment door on the unit block of Akin Circle, ransacked a bedroom and stole $100.

As maintenance workers repaired the door on that apartment, the resident of an adjacent apartment discovered her apartment had been burglarized in a similar way.

That resident told police that between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., someone pried open her door and stole a PlayStation 3, a laptop computer and a Louis Vuitton purse, the latter valued at $1,500.

Reaching Circle, unit block, Sept. 4: A 12-year-old girl was arrested after allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old boy twice inside his home. According to police reports, the boy said the first assault occurred after the girl entered through an unlocked door and punched him twice in the face and kicked him in the side after he was on the ground.

The second assault occurred allegedly after the girl entered through an unlocked sliding door and she began to punch him. The girl, who was released to her parents, told police she assaulted the boy because he was calling her names.

Burke Road, 1500 block, Sept. 4: A crossbow was stolen from an unlocked shed. Total loss: $1500

Transverse Ave., unit block, Sept. 1: A toolbox a various tools were taken from the detached garage of the home. Total loss: $325

Beachwood Ave., 1700 block, Sept. 1: All the copper piping was stolen from the vacant home after unknown suspects forced their way into the home through a side screen door. Total loss: $6,000.

Pulaski Highway, 12200 block, Sept. 1: Nine glass pipes, 12 metal pipes and eight sticky brand salvia packs were stolen from Beavs Smokehouse. Surveillance video showed a male suspect wearing a ski mask and a dark-colored shirt with a skeleton and a marijuana leaf on it entered the business by breaking the glass to the front door.

Cold Spring Road, 1000 block, Aug. 15-30: Two unknown suspects entered the home by removing window air conditioning unit. The pair then forced open the home’s garage door before stealing video game consoles, video games, laptop computers, a vacuum cleaner, air purifiers, a pressure washer, and a riding lawn mower. Total loss: $24,050.
