Crime Beat: Man Stabbed in Robbery Attempt

TVs Taken

April 3: Someone kicked open the front door of an apartment on the 900 block of Ashbridge Drive and stole two 44-inch flat-screen TVs, along with clothes and shoes. Total loss: $2,150.

April 2: An unknown suspect entered a home on the 500 block of Welbrook Road and stole eight Red Bull energy drinks. Total loss: $16.

Shore Drive Home Burglarized

April 2: An unknown suspect gained entry through a rear door of a home on the 1200 block of Shore Drive and stole two TVs, two VCRs, two gold rings, two chainsaws, 15 fishing rods and a shotgun. Total loss: $5,675.

Power Tools Snatched

April 1: Someone stole numerous power tools out of an unlocked vehicle belonging to Dicatalpo Plumbing and Heating, located on the 11100 block of Red Lion Road.  Total loss: $1,495.

Catalytic Converters Stolen

April 1:  An unknown suspect stole two catalytic converters from the company vehicles of Petro Oil Co., located on the 8900 block of Citation Road. Total loss: $3,680.

Man Stabbed on Middleborough Road

April 1: A 26-year-old male suffered a minor stab wound attempting to fight off an armed robber. According to police, the suspect approached the victim from behind at about 10 p.m. at Middleborough Road and Route 702. The victim turned around and realized he was about to be robbed so he punched the suspect in the face. During a struggle, the victim was stabbed in the left thigh. The suspect is described as a black male, between 18-25 years old, about 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Stunt Bicycle Taken

March 30: An unknown suspect entered the open garage of a home on the 600 block of Middle River Road and stole a 26-inch stunt bicycle.

Man Assaulted By Couple

March 31: A man and woman were arrested on robbery charges after trying to take money from a man after he refused her request for money in exchange for sex.

According to police reports, Tammy L. Marciano, 42, invited the 48-year-old victim to her apartment on the 900 block of Garden Drive after they had corresponded several times on the Internet.

After the victim arrived, Marciano allegedly asked him to pay her $40 in return for sex. The man refused and Marciano allegedly started attacking the victim. Shortly thereafter, police allege James Strickland, 57,  the other suspect arrested, entered the apartment and also tried to take the victim’s money before he escaped and contacted police.

Would-Be Burglars Caught by Homeowners

March 30: Police arrested two men and charged them with fourth degree burglary after the homeowners caught them stealing items from their yard.

James Hanlin, 52, and Jeffrey Swimm, 51, were approached by the homeowner of the residence on the 2200 block of Greythorn Road while they were taking items from a yard. They put most of the items back when asked and left the location. Police caught the pair shortly thereafter.

Tools Taken from Chesapeake Avenue Home

March 30: An unknown suspect entered an unlocked garage of a home on the 1400 block of Chesapeake Avenue and stole an electric saw and a drill press. Total loss:  $600.

Man Robbed by Group on Stemmers Run Road

March 27: Two boys were arrested and charged with armed robbery of a 43-year-old man. According to police, the victim was walking home along Stemmers Run Road when four subjects approached him. The subjects taunted the victim and when he walked into his yard he was struck by an unknown weapon and had a leatherman tool stolen from him. The suspects then fled before two of them—a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old—were apprehended.
