Crime Beat: Boy Robs Teen at Knifepoint for $1.01

Armed robbery, rape, more copper thefts are among recent crimes reported to the Baltimore County Police Department's Essex Precinct.

Boy Robs Teen at Knifepoint for $1.01

April 25: A 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with armed robbery of a 16-year-old over $1.01.

The victim told police the suspect approached him and his brother, who is autistic, at about 9 a.m. along the 100 block of Compass Road. The suspect then allegedly displayed a knife and asked for the victim’s money. The suspect then ran away before being apprehended by police a short time later.

Beoni Court Home Burglarized

April 24: Someone entered a home on the unit block of Benoni Court and stole three TVs and two laptops, along with several video game consoles and video games. Total loss: $6,305.

Moped Taken from Yard

April 24: An unknown suspect entered the yard of a home on the 100 block of Bennett Road and stole a moped.

Four Men Assault, Rob Victim at Gunpoint

April 22: Four unknown suspects threw a 37-year-old man to the ground and pointed a gun at the victim around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hadwick and Browning Drives. All four suspects wore ski masks and escaped with the victim’s cell phone, keys and McDonald’s uniform.

By the Dock’s Burglarized

April 22: An unknown suspect stole the copper from a cooling system of By the Dock’s Restaurant, located on the 3300 block of Eastern Blvd. Total loss: $1,200.

Parts Stolen from A/C Unit

April 20: An unknown suspect stole the inner parts of an air conditioning unit from a home on the unit block of Longeron Drive.

Laptop, Medicine Taken from Apartment

April 20: An unknown suspect entered an apartment on the 1400 block of Hadwick Drive and stole a laptop computer and 30 percocet tablets. Total loss: $520.

Copper Taken from Churches

April 20: An unknown suspect removed the copper metal from an air conditioning unit at Orems United Methodist Church, located on the 1000 block of Orems Road. This came just days after three additional units were burglarized in the same fashion. In all four cases, the units had their outer protective grill temporarily removed to gain access to the inner copper metal.

April 19: Sometime between April 5-19, an unknown suspect entered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located on the 100 block of Stemmers Run Road, and stole the copper tubing out of two air conditioning units and replaced the shell of the units to avoid detection. Total loss: $3,600.

April 19:  An unknown suspect stole 50 feet of copper downspout from the rear of Back River United Methodist Church, located on the 500 block of Back River Neck Road.

April 13: An unknown person pried open the front door of Sharp Street United Methodist Church, located on the 11100 block of Eastern Avenue, and stole a window air conditioning unit.

Woman Reports Rape in Maplecrest Community

April 18: An unknown suspect is being sought for allegedly raping a woman in his apartment after picking her up at an Essex bar.

According to police reports, the victim went to Mr. B’s Boulevard Lounge, located on the 1800 block of Eastern Ave., to get a drink on April 17. The suspect approached the victim and offered to buy her a drink. He later invited her to his apartment for another drink.

Once inside, the victim told police the suspect grabbed her by the neck and shoved her onto the bed, holding her down by the throat. She yelled for him to stop as he continued to rape her. She eventually pushed the suspect away and escaped, grabbing the first set of clothes she could find and running to her mother’s house.

She told police she could not recall exactly which apartment building the attack took place, but knew it was on the 9800 block of Tailspin Lane in the Maplecrest area. She described the suspect as a Hispanic male, between the ages of 50 and 55 years old with black hair. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans at the time of the attack.

Man Robbed at Gunpoint

April 17: At about 10:25 p.m., an unknown suspect robbed a 31-year-old man at gunpoint on the 9900 block of Berliner Place. The victim told police that the suspect exited a dark silver Volkswagen Jetta and pointed a gun into his back. The victim threw everything from his pockets on the ground before the suspect escaped with the victim’s cash and Blackberry. Total loss: $350.
