Crime Beat: Boy Robbed at Knifepoint for His iPod

A 15-year-old boy was robbed at knifepoint early Saturday evening while sitting on a curb with a friend in Essex.

According to police reports, the boys were sitting on a curb around 6 p.m. along Tace Drive when they noticed a black truck with chrome wheels drive by them. The suspect then approached the boys before eventually pulling out a knife, telling the victim to give him his iPod.

The suspect was last seen driving eastbound along Route 702.

Driftwood Court, unit block, July 16: Two flat-screen TVs, a PlayStation 3, five video games and a digital camera were taken from a home as the family slept. Total loss: $1,400.

Pulaski Highway, 10700 block, July 16, around 3:50 a.m.: Someone cut the phone and alarm lines to the Shell gas station before breaking into the building and stealing cash and a pack of cigarettes. Total loss: $820.

Cove Road, 200 block, July 13-15: A circular saw was taken from the home. Every room was ransacked.

Second Road, 1200 block, July 15: A bicycle was taken from the front yard of the home. Total loss: $90.

Pulaski Highway, 11300 block, July 14: Thirty pounds of copper were taken from a BGE lot. Total loss: $120.

Trailway Road, 200 block, July 14: An ATV was stolen from a shed after someone broke a lock to get inside it. Total loss: $7,000.

Vincent Road, 6400 block, July 13: A power washer, air compressor, circular saw and a miter saw were taken from a rear patio and an unlocked garage. Total loss: $997.

Edwards Lane, 3300 block, July 13: An unknown suspect attempted to steal a grill off a boat located at Park Side Marina. The victim was on the boat at the time and was awakened by the suspect. The suspect then dropped the grill and escaped in a pickup truck.

Carrollwood Road, unit block, July 12: Five feet of copper and a section of a steel gas pipe was taken from a home after an unknown suspect entered by breaking the rear window of a door. Total loss: $60.

Sandy Hollow Circle, 1600 block, July 11: Three garden lights were taken from the backyard of the home. Total loss: $40.

Tailspin Lane, 9800 block, July 10 at 1:40 a.m.: Two men were robbed at gunpoint after getting out of the vehicle near their apartment building.

According to police reports, two unknown men walked up from behind the victims—ages 23 and 30, respectively—and put a gun to their heads.

The suspects then made the men lay on the ground before stealing a cell phone and $40. The suspects were last seen running to the rear of the apartment building on Tailspin Lane.
