Crime Beat: Attempted Armed Robbery, Homes Burglarized

Local crime reported to the Baltimore County Police Department's Essex Precinct.

Attempted Armed Robbery on Pulaski Highway

Jan. 16: Around 9: 15 p.m., an unknown black male approached attempted to rob a 25-year-old man at gunpoint while he was in his car along the 9600 block of Pulaski Highway. Police said the suspect, who wore a black hoodie and black knit cap, approached the victim and asked him how much money he had while displaying a handgun on his waistband. The victim got out of the car and after the suspect repeated his question, the victim ran to a nearby diner. The suspect was seen getting out of a red two-door Saturn prior to approaching the victim.

Jan. 14: An unknown person cut the pad locks on the rear door of a storage unit on the 100 block of Bengies Road and removed a 5-gallon tub of heavy gauge extension cords.

Laptop Computer Taken

Jan. 13: An unknown suspect entered a home on the 900 block of Foxridge Lane and stole a laptop computer and $20.

Air Conditioning Unit Snatched

Jan. 11: An unknown suspect cut a lock on a fence gate and stole an air conditioning unit from the Baltimore County Rec Center at 404 Compass Rd.

Swing Set Taken From Shed

Jan. 11: Someone entered the back yard of a home on the 12000 block of Eastern Avenue, broke into a shed and stole a 5-gallon gas can and a metal swing set. Total loss: $375.

Apartment Burglarized

Jan. 10: Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m, an unknown suspect gained entry into an apartment on the 1400 block of Hadwick Drive and stole a laptop. Total loss: $1,200.

Laptop Computer Stolen

Jan. 10: Between 12:30 and 3:15 p.m., an unknown suspect entered an apartment on the 900 block of Holegate Drive and stole a laptop computer. Total loss: $1,200.

Home Ransacked, Money Stolen

Jan. 10: an unknown suspect entered a home on the 700 block of Dorsey Avenue through the rear basement door, went through the bedrooms and stole $100.

Man Breaks into Home

Jan. 10: A 19-year-old man was charged with fourth-degree burglary after he broke into his girlfriend’s house on the 800 block of Marlyn Avenue. Police said the man allegedly broke the window on the rear door of the residence and entered the home to retrieve items.

Snow Blower Taken

Jan 9: Sometime between Dec. 14 and Jan. 9, an unknown person pried the lock hasp on a shed in the rear of a home on the 900 block of Susquehanna Ave. and removed a 30-inch slow blower. Total loss: $800.
