Car Slams Into Lighthouse Cafe in Essex

A restaurant employee was transported to the hospital following the accident, store owner Paul Rufe said.

A restaurant employee was injured after a vehicle crashed into the afternoon.

said he was in his office at the time of the accident, which he said occurred around 3:20 p.m.

"I'm just sitting there when I heard a loud crash and then saw a car in the middle of my business," Rufe said. "My employee just got pushed through the whole storefront."

Baltimore County police said the employee was transported to Bayview Medical Center by ambulance. His condition is unknown.

Police said the vehicle has since been cleared from the building, located at 3 Margaret Ave., although there is structural damage to the building and inspectors have been called to the scene to investigate.

No charges have yet been filed and police said they are are still investigating what caused the accident.
