Burglar Leaves Beer in Vacant Essex Home

The burglary occurred sometime earlier this month, police say.

Police say a burglar took nothing from an Essex home last week, but left something unusual behind.

The incident happened sometime between noon on Sept. 7 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 10 in the unit block of Masthead Court, according to a police report.

Police said the burglar broke a rear window in order to unlock and open a door. The burglar dropped a beer bottle near the window and stored food and drinks (including a can of beer) in the refrigerator. The burglar then broke a screen in a second-floor bedroom window and left through a rear door.
