Acid Spill at CCBC Essex Sends One to the Hospital

Unidentified person transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with non-life threatening burns.

One person was taken to the hospital early Tuesday evening after a gallon of sulfuric acid spilled at a lab at the Community College of Baltimore County Essex Campus.

Firefighters were called to the lab after the unidentified person spilled the acid with reported burns to the hands and feet. The person was then transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Maryland Department of the Environment hazardous material crews were also called to the campus to assist with the clean up of the spill.
