11 More Sheds Burglarized in Middle River

At least 16 homes in the Essex-Middle River area have had their sheds broken into over the last two weeks, Baltimore County police report.

Baltimore County police are investigating the latest string of shed burglaries in the Essex-Middle River area.

The burglaries were reported to police between Sunday and Monday with 11 homes over a three-block span being impacted during that span. Nine of the reported burglaries occurred to sheds that were secured with locks. In addition, these break-ins come after were reported to the Essex Precinct last week.

Here is a breakdown of the 11 latest shed burglaries, according to police reports:

  • Rohe Farm Lane, 1000 block, between 8:30 p.m. June 17 and 6:30 a.m. June 18: A generator, two weed trimmers battery charger, maul, lock and rake were stolen after someone cut a lock to enter the shed. Total loss: $890.
  • Oldfield Court, unit block, between 11 p.m. June 17 and 6:30 a.m. June 18: A power cord was stolen after someone cut a lock on a shed. Total loss: $500.
  • Oldfield Court, unit block, between 8 p.m. June 17 and 8 a.m. June 18: A 5-gallon gas can was stolen after someone cut a lock to enter a shed. Total loss: $20.
  • Meadow Glen Road, 1000 block, between 8 p.m. June 16 and 5:30 a.m. June 17: A go-kart was stolen after someone cut a lock to enter a shed. Total loss: $505.
  • Meadow Glen Road, 1000 block, between 9 a.m. June 17 and 10:30 a.m. June 18: A lock to a shed was destroyed but nothing was stolen.
  • Meadow Glen Road, 1000 block, between 4 p.m. June 11 and 8 a.m. June 17:  A lock was cut and removed from two sheds.
  • Meadow Glen Road, 1000 block, between 8 p.m. June 16 and 5:30 a.m. June 17: A power drill, impact drill, battery charger were stolen after a lock was cut from a shed. Total loss: $185.
  • Meadow Glen Road, 1000 block, between 4 p.m. June 16 and 2:15 a.m. June 17: A lawn mower was stolen from an unlocked shed. Total loss: $300.
  • Meadow Glen Road, 1000 block, between 4 p.m. June 16 and 8 a.m. June 17: A power scooter was stolen from an unlocked shed. Total loss: $40.
  • Meadow Glen Road, 1000 block, between 8 p.m. June 16 and 5:30 a.m. June 17: A lawn mower, two weed eaters power washer, weed eater attachments, power drill post hole digger and chainsaw were stolen after someone cut a lock to a shed. Total loss: $1,780.
  • Meadow Glen Road, 1000 block, between 8 p.m. June 17 and 6:30 a.m. June 18: An ATV and a trimmer were stolen from a locked shed. Total loss: $2,110.

Baltimore County police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathy Batton said automated calls went out yesterday to 1,085 homes in the area where the thefts occurred warning residents to take proper precautions.

Along with securing a shed with a lock, Batton said police also recommend residents install motion detectors, increase lighting where shed are located and even try to secure valuables with an additional lock inside the shed,

“Most of these crimes appear to have happened overnight so we are asking residents to be on the look out for any suspicious activity,” Batton said.
