White Marsh Mall Proud to Host “Houses of Hope”Project!

If you have been to the mall lately you have likely noticed the beautiful birdhouses displayed throughout the Lower Level. We are honored to play host to the newest Cool Kids Campaign Project, “Houses of Hope”.  If you are not familiar with the Cool Kids Campaign, they are a Towson based non-profit that supports children and families of children who are currently battling or recovering from cancer. Their mission is to provide kids with cancer a higher quality of life for themselves and their families while facing the challenges of cancer. Basically, they help feel like kids again!

The group’s latest project is called “Houses of Hope.”  Under the guidance of a professional art instructor, 36 current and former child cancer patients have painted handmade birdhouses to reflect their journey of living with cancer. Throughout White Marsh Mall now thru August 19, twelve of these birdhouses along with a bio and photo of each artist will be on display for the public to see.

Tomorrow some of these artists will be in attendance for a special recognition during Family Fun Day. After meeting the artists and hearing about their birdhouse and journey with cancer all children in attendance at Family Fun Day will get to make a hand-made birdhouse “get-well” card which will then be sent to some of the children currently in the hospital receiving treatment.

I’ve attached a few images of these amazing works of art and hope you have a chance to stop by and see what these brave children have created.  Each and every one of the birdhouses is both inspirational and beautiful.
