White Marsh Mall crowns a CAN-struction winner!

In 2011 CANstruction at White Marsh Mall collected over 10,000 pounds of canned food and donated over $500 to The Maryland Food Bank to provide thousands of meals to hungry men, women and children.

If you’ve been to White Marsh Mall in the last few weeks, you’ve likely seen the can-food sculptures and wondered exactly what they were for.

On Saturday, May 19, teams of Baltimore architects, engineers, contractors, designers and students marched into the White Marsh Mall prepared to create masterpieces for the AIA Baltimore 2012 CANstruction design competition. Each team used canned food to build a piece of artwork that remained on display at White Marsh Mall until Monday, June 4. All of the canned goods used were then donated to The Maryland Food Bank.

Yesterday, we crowned a people’s choice award winner!

A huge congratulations goes out to the Cannon Design team for their “B MORE” sculpture designed by Yen Cao, Migena Dilolli, Don Reeves and TJ Kim. Check out the attached images to see their amazing design! They spelled out B-MORE in the Baltimore skyline- pretty impressive!

The inspiration originated from CANstruction’s mission to engage, amaze and inspire the community to work together and help those in need. They wanted the sculpture to be a message of encouragement and motivation.
