Time to Plan for Summer Camp

Don't delay for now is the time to plan for summer learning adventures camp at CCBC.

Tons of fun, couched in a nurturing learning environment, happens every day at the Community College of Baltimore County’s Summer Learning Adventures Camp. Reasonably priced, the camps will be conveniently held at CCBC Catonsville, CCBC Essex, CCBC Dundalk and CCBC Owings Mills in both full-day and half-day sessions.

There is a before- and after-care option at CCBC Essex.Register now in person, by phone (443-840-4700,) by mail or by fax.

During summer 2012, in addition to traditional offerings in performing and visual arts, academics and languages, the camps will have a renewed emphasis on classes in science, technology, engineering and math. Several classes use LEGOs to offer students an opportunity to engineer games, make a video, reinforce math skills and even create an alternative universe.

Awesome Science: Hands-on Dissection will allow young minds to learn more about classifications, internal and external structures of animals great and small through hands-on dissecting.

Young weather buffs may want to explore the anatomy of a thunderstorm, find out about tornados or learn how a blizzard forms in EXTREME Weather! They will use computer models to track these weather events.

The thrilling (and sometimes scary) world of Natural Disasters takes the camper from the great eruptions of Mt. Saint Helen’s, Krakatau, and Pompeii through the recent effects of the massive earthquakes and tsunamis around the earth.

Always a favorite topic for young paleontologists, Discovering Dinosaurs lets campers do a bit of time traveling to explore Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods of earth’s history. They can touch the past with various fossils and even create a fossil of their own and build a dinosaur that can be taken home at the end of the session.

CCBC Summer Learning Adventure Camps are fully licensed and certified by the state of Maryland.
