Make the most of May 2012 at CCBC events

The Community College of Baltimore County extends an invitation for you to come enjoy May events happening at all of our campuses.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (April 26, 2012) – Reconnect with alumni (Alumni Fun Fest).  Enjoy the Jazz sounds of the CCBC Ensemble.  Applaud performances of actors - young and old (Children’s Playhouse of Maryland and Senior Star Showcase). Engage in comic relief for a worthy cause (Roast of F. Scott Black). Observe the heavens (Star parties) and give tribute to our past present and future Veterans. The Community College of Baltimore County extends an invitation for you to come enjoy May events happening at all of our campuses.

The Gallery at CCBC Catonsville presents: Gathering Atmospheres
Monday thru Thursday, 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. (Closed Sunday) Q Bldg., CCBC Catonsville, 800 S. Rolling Road.
Admire the art work of artists Thomas Bigatel, Jessica Braiterman, Micah Cash, Julie Simon, and Regina Tumasella.
A reception with the artists will be held Friday, April 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Free.

The Children’s Playhouse of Maryland Presents: Fame: The Musical

Music at CCBC - CCBC Chamber Singers Spring Choral Concert

This choral ensemble, under the direction of Monica Otal, will present excerpts from Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, as well as lighter fare at their Spring Choral Concert.

The Jazz Plus Ensemble, under the direction of Brian Comotto, will perform standard and original jazz and pop compositions.

An Evening of Big Band Jazz

Under the direction of Ashton Fletcher, Powerhouse Ensemble will perform jazz standards and big band favorites.

May 11 – CCBC Dundalk
Observing Session – Star Party
9-11 p.m. Observatory at CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road
The Observatory at CCBC Dundalk is a hidden gem for amateur or professional astronomers. It offers a view of the universe using a Celestron 14-ionch CGE 1400 XLT telescope. If weather is questionable, please check for cancellations by calling 443-840-4216 no earlier than 45 minutes before the scheduled start time. Visit the CCBC Web site for information on the star parties.

May 12 – CCBC Catonsville
Saturday Celestial Event - Legends in the Heavens
10 a.m. Benjamin Banneker Planetarium, Building D, Room D-003 CCBC Catonsville, 800 S. Rolling Road.
Using a Spitz 1024 system displaying 2300 stars, view a wide variety of constellations and listen to the tales told from long ago about the celestial sights. In the event of inclement weather, please call 443-840-1711 for weather-related closings. For more information, call 443-840-4560.

May 17 – CCBC Catonsville
A Tribute to Our Heroes - Past Present and Future: Veterans Appreciation

School of Health Professions Student Recognition Ceremony

CCBC salutes the 616 School of Health Professions students who will be completing their degree or certificate program this May as well as December 2011 graduates.  Those with the highest GPAs as well as the inductees into national honor societies will be named.
