Music Forum:  My Favorite Things

Music Coordinator Patti Crossman will present a recital of her personal favorite works for solo piano, piano and voice, and piano and violin, assisted by CCBC Music Faculty members Janet Crisalli Lindquist, Monica Otal, and Rachael Stockton.

President’s Distinguished African-American Lecture Series presents Isabel Wilkerson, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author

Isabel Wilkerson, the first Black woman in the history of American journalism to win the Pulitzer Prize and the first African-American to win for individual reporting, will discuss her best-selling book, The Warmth of Other Suns, about the great migration.

Music Forum:  The Capitol Woodwind Quintet

Formed in 1977, the Capitol Woodwind Quintet has become known for its critically acclaimed concert appearances in the Washington, DC region, including the National Gallery of Art, The Phillips Collection, Strathmore Hall, and The Barns at Wolf Trap. The ensemble is comprised of members of The National Symphony and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.

Planetarium program:  Benjamin Banneker’s Astronomy

Learn how this free black farmer in neighboring Oella taught himself astronomy, helped with the mapping of Washington, D.C., and wrote almanacs.

February 24 – CCBC Essex
Music Forum:  The Legacy Spiritual Ensemble Vocal Quartet

Free.  No tickets required.
The Legacy Spiritual Ensemble strives to preserve the art and tradition of the African-American Spiritual, as well as showcasing derivative gospel music and music of African-American composers. The touring vocal quartet is composed of professional singers from the Washington, DC area who regularly perform in opera, concert and recital.

Children’s Playhouse of Maryland, Inc. presents “A Year with Frog and Toad”

This delightful musical is based on the Frog and Toad children's stories written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel.  Let your children enjoy the adventures of a worrywart toad and a perky frog, with their assorted woodland companions, over the course of a year.

CCBC and the Baltimore County Public Schools again co-sponsor College Fair for high school students and their parents.  More than 100 colleges, universities, proprietary and military schools are expected to be represented at this annual event.
