Events Through March at CCBC Campuses

The Community College of Baltimore County begins its spring semester with free tax preparation, free dental hygiene exams and sealants, and free astronomy programs as well as music, theatre and dance.

The Community College of Baltimore County begins its spring semester with a bevy of events for CCBC students, faculty and staff and the entire community.  Free tax preparation, free dental hygiene exams and sealants, and free astronomy programs will complement performing arts events in music, theatre and dance.  Enjoy!

“SEALANT SATURDAY” - CCBC Dental Hygiene Program and Maryland Dental Hygienists’ Association
Feb. 9, Dental Arts Building, CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road

Complete dental examinations and the application of clear, colorless, protective coatings on permanent molars to children ages 6-17, who are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

FREE TAX PREPARATION! -- IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program – CCBC Catonsville and Essex

Free individual tax preparation service. The service is for taxpayers with incomes that are less than $60,000 and that require only the basic schedules for individual and households. CCBC students who major in Accounting will do anyone’s taxes for free. The Essex campus as well as the Catonsville campus will be hosting this event.

February 12, 19, & 26, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the Essex campus in building L - room 102.  For more information, call 443–840–1447.

DENTAL HYGIENE SPECIALTY CLINIC PREGNANT WOMEN AND INFANTS – CCBC Dundalk

Feb. 13, 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-4:30 p.m., Dental Arts Building, CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road

Funded by a grant from CareFirst BlueCross/BlueShield, the program offers dental hygiene assessment and treatment by students, supervised by licensed clinical faculty, to pregnant and post-partum women and children up to two years.

“COSMIC CATASTROPHES” -
Astronomy Program Saturday Planetarium Show

Explore the possible ways that the Earth could suffer enormous natural disasters including a supernova explosion, and an asteroid impact and human-induced changes, such as the ozone-hole depletion and global warming.

VAN JONES -- President’s Distinguished African-American Lecture

Environmental activist, civil rights proponent and attorney Van Jones will deliver the 2013 President’s Distinguished African-American Lecture. 
Jones, Special advisor to President Barack Obama on green jobs, will discuss and sign his NYT best-selling book “The Green Collar Economy.”

KIRK BLOODSWORTH - An Inside Look at Capital Punishment
Feb. 27, 12:45 – 2:45 p.m., Building B, Room 102-B, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd.
The first death row inmate to be exonerated by DNA evidence in the United States, Kirk Bloodsworth, will discuss his experiences with the justice system.  This event is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, School of Business, Criminal Justice and Law, and the Social Justice and Peace subcommittee.

“THE 1940’S RADIO HOUR” - Dundalk Community Theatre

A musical tribute to the heyday of radio broadcasting filled with big band hits such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Blue Moon,” and “Strike up the Band.”

Enjoy your favorite characters from Disney's “Aladdin,” with this stage adaptation of the Disney hit film. Filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides and Academy award-winning score with songs including "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me," this is a ‘must see’ musical!

CCBC joins with the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce and the Baltimore County Office of Workforce Development to host a Job Fair. Prospective job seekers are encouraged to dress for success and bring multiple copies of their résumés.
