Wings Over Maryland

Enjoy a private tour, just for you and your guests, of an air and space  museum next to Dulles Airport with  retired astronaut and Middle River's own Dr. Tom Jones. Dr. Jones, a graduate from Kenwood High School will share his experiences with you as you explore this wonderful museum that includes a space shuttle. This is one of the many items in the silent auction at the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum's annual fundraiser.

The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum is honoring Jim Smith with its  “Friend of the Museum” award during Wings Over Maryland, its annual fund-raising dinner and silent auction on Saturday, September 28 at 6 PM  at the Sparrows Point Country Club in Baltimore.  Mr. Smith, Maryland Transportation Secretary, was a strong supporter of the museum during his years as Baltimore County Executive.  “We appreciate the chance to formally thank Jim Smith for all his keen interest in our museum and eastern Baltimore County,” said Museum Board Chair Karen Armacost.

Proceeds from the event, with this year's theme celebrating the Museum's 20th anniversary of visitors to its exhibits, assist in supporting the Museum's education programs for inspiring and producing the future aviation workforce, archival programs and aircraft restoration projects. This Maryland cultural and educational facility has been serving the region as it  collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets Maryland's aviation and aerospace history.  Music for the evening is being provided by the Ellis Woodward Trio. The Master of Ceremonies is Alan Walden.  Also being recognized at the event is the Museum’s scholarship  winner, Ashley Reinhardt, a graduate of Chesapeake High School.   Tickets can be purchased at the Museum (on the grounds of the Martin State Airport) or online at www.WingsOverMaryland.org.
