PHOTOS: Essex-Middle River Deals with Irene's Aftermath

Heavy winds do severe damage to community.

Those who live in the Essex-Middle River area feared Hurricane Irene would bring floods similar to the ones Tropical Storm Isabel brought in 2003.

The area was largely spared any major damage from water, however, heavy winds have led to hundreds of down trees and power lines. No major injuries have been reported, but there are still more than 145,000 homes without power and many who have been displaced from their homes as of 12 p.m. Sunday.

Here are some of the images from around town. Please feel free to offer your own insight or send in your own photos to Essex-Middle River Patch Editor Ron Snyder at ronald.snyder@patch.com
