Luxury Apartments Officially Open at Baltimore Crossroads @ 95

Tisha and Kenny Mason wanted to find an apartment that not only included amenities but also provided an easier commute to work.

The Masons, who live in Pikesville, said they found everything they were looking for when the couple discovered .

The luxury apartment complex along Route 43 in White Marsh will eventually include 365 units, ranging from 510 to 1,565 square feet with one to three bedrooms options.

On Wednesday, the Masons joined county and state officials who were on hand for the development’s official grand opening.

The Masons, who will move into their apartment in January, are one of 72 individuals or families to sign a lease, said Michael Carruthers, president of the Bethesda-based Somerset Construction Co., which is building the $60 million project.

So far, 82 units are complete and 50 people have actually moved into the development, which is expected to be completed by April, Carruthers said. He added that rent prices would range from $1,100 to $2,000 a month.

“These apartments have everything we could ever ask for,” said Tisha Mason, who works at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. “There’s an easy commute, we’re close to everything and I only expect things to get better as Route 43 develops even more.”

Carruthers said that among the amenities in the community are a fitness center with locker rooms, a multimedia center with a 110-inch viewing screen, a billiards room and a business center.

In addition, Carruthers said, there are plans for multiple child play areas, and a pet spa with pet washroom and dog run. Additionally, there will be a resort-style, multi-tiered swimming pool with sun decks, outdoor living areas with multiple grills, along with an outdoor Zen garden, tot lot and car wash area.

The development has achieved LEED Silver certification, which would include energy-efficient heating, ventilating and air-conditioning and hot water systems, combined with low-flow plumbing fixtures and Energy Star appliances designed to reduce monthly water, gas and electric bills, Carruthers said.

The development will even include an electric car-charging station to encourage the use of electric-powered vehicles. The expected cost for an overnight charge is $1.50 per vehicle.

Carruthers, along with local and state elected officials, believe The Arbors will help spur economic development in Baltimore Crossroads @ 95, something that has developed slowly since the 1,000-acre mixed use development—which links Middle River with White Marsh—first opened in 2006.

“We needed to generate energy for this corridor to attract additional businesses to the area, and we believe these apartments will do that,” Carruthers said.  “As we get more people living here, businesses will see the growth and want to be a part of it.”

Baltimore County Councilwoman Cathy Bevins said she believes The Arbors @ Baltimore Crossroads will not only spur economic growth along Route 43, but also aid in the redevelopment of the nearby 55-acre , located along Eastern Avenue.

“We’ve experienced tough times in the economy and projects like this will help us move forward,” Bevins said. “For Route 43 to thrive, there needs to be lights on after 5 p.m., so businesses realize there are additional opportunities for them to succeed. These apartments will help accomplish that goal.”
