Heat Expected to Reach Dangerous Levels

Excessive heat watch in effect Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Heat indices could reach 115 degrees Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

There is already an excessive heat watch in effect Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening when temperatures are expected to reach 96 with a heat index of 107 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, an excessive heat watch means that prolonged periods of hot temperatures are expected and conditioning could create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 83. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
