PHOTOS: The Fitness Rave Zumbas for a Good Cause

The Middle River fitness studio recently raised $1,500 to donate to the Alzheimer's Association.

 

About 150 people came out to on March 31 to help raise money for the .

In all, the Middle River fitness studio collected $1,500 from participants who paid $10 each to partake in a one-hour Zumba class in the parking lot of the business, located in Baltimore Crossroads@95.

Lydia Haskell, The Fitness Rave's owner, said she became involved with the cause to assist one of her members, reach her goal of raising $7,500.

Wooding, a senior vice president at PNC Bank, is raising the money as part of the Alzheimer's Association's Memory Ball 2012 "Dancing Stars" fundraiser.

Set for April 14 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel, the event has "local celebrities [who] will learn to ballroom dance and will then compete for 'votes' in the form of donations. The dancing couple that receives the most 'votes' will be named the winner," according to the association's website.

"This is such a great cause, so when Renee told us about it, we wanted to help her out any way we could," Haskell said. "A lot of people came out, had a great time, got in a great workout and helped her reach her goal."
