Mega Millions Jackpot Continues To Grow

The world-record drawing, set for 11 p.m. Friday, is now up to $640 million for a single winner.

The world's biggest jackpot just got even bigger.

Maryland Lottery officials confirmed that Friday's Mega Millions Drawing, set for 11 p.m., is now worth an estimated annuitized value of $640 million. For those who opt to take the cash option, a single winning ticket is worth $462 million with a tak home of $307.2 million after taxes, according to the Maryland Lottery.

Tonight's jackpot broke the previous record by $250 million, according to a Maryland Lottery news release. People across the country, including in Maryland, are purchasing tickets at a blistering pace.

According to figures from the Maryland Lottery,as of 3 p.m. Friday, there have been more than $4.8 million Mega Million tickets sold and more than $6.8 million in lottery sales overall. This breaks down to 20,640 wagers a minutes and 344 wagers per second.

Ticket's for Friday's drawing, which will air live on WBAL-TV, will be sold until 10:45 p.m.
