Longtime Middle River Restaurant Closes

, a fixture in Middle River for more than three decades, has closed.

Owners of the restaurant announced the closure Wednesday on its Facebook page. A simple sign "Sorry, closed" is attached to the front door of the establishment, located at 3030 Eastern Blvd.

The following announcement was on The Landing Strip's Facebook page:

"My family and I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for all the continued patronage you have given us at The Landing Strip for the past 31 years. In this time we have met some wonderful people and became great friends with many of you and even consider you a part of our family. We have so many wonderful memories that I know I won't forget nor the rest of my family and that I will always cherish and smile when remembered. It's hard to believe that after all these years it is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye. You will be continually thought of and hope to never lose touch with many of you. You will be missed. Sincerely, Jack, Shirley, Tina, Stacy, Heather Travers and The Staff of The Landing Strip.

Many in the area took to social media to express their sadness over the restaurant's closing.

"Three generations of my family have enjoyed the Landing Strip" wrote Jacqueline Goertz on Facebook. "I will miss crab soup and crab cakes just like my grandmother used to make. Thank you all for all the happy memories."
