Cheap Groceries Still Available as Prices Begin to Soar

Area stores offer many great deals on household staples.

With the snow hopefully behind us, we may not be focusing on milk, bread and toilet paper. But a staple item on many shoppers' list is cereal, and the price of this everyday item seems to be going through the roof.

However,  several local stores have some great buys this week.

  • Aldi: Millville-brand cereals 13, 14 and 14.5 oz. boxes are on sale for prices ranging from $1.59 to $1.79. This sale ends on Saturday. Sign up on Aldi’s website to receive their sales specials by e-mail.

The next three offers end on Tuesday, March 8:

  • Mars has two cereal specials. General Mills has four items on special, offering two boxes for $5. Kellogg’s has four of their favorites on special for $2.99; and if you buy 3 boxes, you get an 18 oz. jar of Jif peanut butter —a very nice bonus.
  • At Food Lion, buy two for $4 Kellogg’s cereals and receive a free gallon of Food Lion milk.
  • Family Dollar is offering 17 oz. boxes of Family Gourmet Frosted Flakes for just $2; their 14 oz. Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes boxes are going for $2.85.

If you like cereal, this week is a great time to stock up.
