Before 'Frankenstorm' Perry Hall, White Marsh Sells Out of Generators

Ace Hardware, Home Depot and Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse were cleared out of portable generators in advance of Hurricane Sandy.

The early bird gets the worm—or the generator in this case.

At Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse on Campbell Boulevard in White Marsh, customers seeking portable generators—often used to keep refrigerators running when the power goes out—were met by empty shelves.

Workers said that all of the Baltimore area Lowe's stores were sold out, and the next shipment's timing was unknown.

With Hurricane Sandy expected to make landfall in the Maryland area early next week, and Gov. Martin O'Malley already declaring a state of emergency, the "Frankenstorm" is expected to leave thousands of Perry Hall and White Marsh residents out of power.

The White Marsh Home Depot on Pulaski Highway is also sold out of generators but expects to receive another shipment around 9 p.m. Friday. The new stock will be first-come, first-served, according to a worker.

The Perry Hall Ace Hardware on Ebenezer Road sold out of its last generators on Friday, but a new shipment of between 30 and 50 generators is expected to arrive Saturday or Sunday. Customers may call ahead at 410-256-1913 to check on the shipment's status, according to a worker.

Where are you finding supplies for the upcoming storm? Tell us in the comments.

The best thing's and home owner should have is a snow blower and a generator. If you value you back and your home food supply you need these. But remember to run your generator outside and not in any area where is could send fumes in to your home. Good luck folks!!!

Benefit of the doubt to OT, I'm not sure Hal. Maybe I read too much into his "joke". At a minimum it was an Obama slam, at worst it was a Katrina slam.
