Baltimore Blast vs. Chicago Riot

  • Where/When: 1st Mariner Arena, 7:35 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Blast are in the hunt for another MISL title. Indoor soccer is fun, exciting and inexpensive. Plus, there will be a pre-game ceremony for  Celenza, a former standout at CCBC Essex and UMBC, who will retire at the end of the season.
  • Pricing: $16-$30

  • Where/When: Fattie’s Bar and Grill, 1030 Old Eastern Ave, from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Why Go: An Essex neighborhood staple known for great food and drink specials, Fattie’s debuts its first Retro Night, featuring “The Musicologist” DJ Reggie Kelly, who will be spinning the greatest rock, alternative and dance hits from the '80s. Bring your tight leather pants and big hair to Fattie's for one of the best '80s parties ever.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: Timonium Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday-Sunday
  • Why Go: More than 300 local and national exhibitors will help Do-It-Yourselfers tackle home projects with ease. From baseboards to crown molding, the Maryland Home & Garden Show has homeowners covered with the newest products and services, including tools and equipment, appliances, interior fixtures, landscapers, contractors and interior designers.
  • Pricing: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $3 for kids ages 6-12, free for children under 6.

  • Where/When: Gunpowder State Park, 12 p.m. on Saturday
  • Why Go: People plunge into the Gunpowder River at this annual fundraiser for the Marshy Point Nature Center. Along with the plunge, there will be food, music and games for kids.
  • Pricing: $20 registration for plungers. Those who pledge at least $40 will get a T-shirt; those who pledge $150 will receive a sweatshirt as well.

 

  • Where/When: Martin’s East at 1 p.m. on Sunday
  • Why Go: This is a fundraiser for St. Baldrick’s, which raises money for pediatric cancer research. About 200 people are expected to pledge to shave their heads as a show of solidarity with children who have cancer. Along with the shaving, there will be music, food and raffles and auctions for great prizes.
  • Pricing: Admission is free, but there is a charge for food.
