Ballestone Commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War

This weekend May 5-6, a Civil War Battle Reenactment and living history program will spread out over the grounds of Ballestone Manor located in Essex at the end of Back River Neck Road (Route 702) at Golf Course Road.

Members of the 2nd U.S. Company C, U.S. Artillery Reserve, Longstreet’s Corp. will participate in the reenactment. Two sutler (or civilian merchants) will set
up camp stores during the event to sell provisions to the soldiers.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6. Admission donation is $5 per car (includes driver) and $1 for additional passengers. The Ballestone concession stand will be open for food and beverages, and the Ballestone gift shop will also be open with many new items. The mansion will be open for tours during the event.
