Artist Gives 'Golden Eggs' Van Gogh Treatment

"Starry Night in Dundalk" shows the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant's iconic Golden Eggs in a painting imitating Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night."

A Google search on Wednesday for a picture of the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant to accompany anarticle about scheduled upgrades to the facility uncovered a depiction of the iconic "Golden Eggs" that made me laugh.

As in out loud.

"Poordogfarm" has a painting of the Golden Eggs, done in the style of Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night," available for sale on the website Etsy.

Titled "Starry Night in Dundalk," the painting depicts the treatment plant's infamous "eggs" against the swirly, moon- and star-filled midnight blue sky.

The print is billed as being "special for my fellow Dundalkians" on the website.

A signed copy of the 8-inch-by-10-inch print costs $25.

"This print is a special one, for all my fellow Dundalkians," the artist wrote on the site. "Only THEY can understand the real humor in this painting."

The artist said that so many folks from Dundalk emailed asking for a print that he or she pulled the painting out of retirement.

If you'd like to buy a copy, check out poordogfarm on etsy.com.

I'll leave the debate as to whether the treatment plant is in Dundalk or Essex for another day.
