1. The weather: Thursday will be mostly sunny, with a daytime high of near 79 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Thursday night is expected to be mostly cloudy, with an overnight low of 67 degrees.

2. From history.com's This Day in History: "On this day in 1978, Louise Joy Brown, the world's first baby to be conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF) is born at Oldham and District General Hospital in Manchester, England, to parents Lesley and Peter Brown. The healthy baby was delivered shortly before midnight by caesarean section and weighed in at five pounds, 12 ounces."

3. The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum invites you to participate  in some aviation fun at Open Cockpit Day on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.

4. The rainy summer might have a lot of sun worshippers bummed out, but the farm fields look great — I'm looking forward to some great local corn.

5. The Orioles lost another squeaker to the Kansas City Royals Wednesday night, 4-3.
