MTA Releases Weekend MARC Schedule

The Penn Line will serve weekend passengers between Martin State Airport and Washington.

Looking to take a weekend trip to Washington? On Dec. 7, your trip might get a little easier.

That's when weekend service starts for the MARC Penn Line. The Maryland Transit Administration on Wednesday released the schedule for the weekend trains—nine each way on Saturdays and six on Sundays between Union Station in Washington and Martin State Airport in Middle River.

The earliest southbound train on Saturdays will leave Martin State Airport at 7:10 a.m., and the latest northbound train leaves Washington at 10:35 p.m. On Sundays, the first southbound train will leave Martin State Airport at 8:50 a.m., and the latest northbound train will depart at 7 p.m.

Fares for the weekend service will be the same as on weekdays, up to $7 each way between Baltimore and Washington. Though the Camden and Brunswick lines will not be in service, weekly and monthly tickets from all lines will be honored on the weekend trains, according to the MTA website.

The long-planned expansion was funded as part of the transportation package that passed the General Assembly earlier this year.
