Local Groups in Need of Donations

Volunteer ambulance company, nature center among this week's Patch Picks.

In these uncertain economic times, those seeking charitable donations need all the help they can get. Patch has highlighted five local groups that should be considered by residents seeking to make a donation to a good cause.

1. Founded in 1990, the museum is a private nonprofit. Its purpose is to maintain an educational institution dedicated to the promotion, preservation and documentation of aviation and space history in Maryland, especially the contributions of aviation pioneer Glenn L. Martin.

2. MARSHY POINT NATURE CENTER  Since opening in 2000, the center has moved steadily forward in creating informative programs for adults and children. This includes monthly lectures by noted naturalists, along with discovery hikes and demonstrations on the weekend.
