Faded Image, HyJinx to Headline Waterfront Festival

The 'Rockin' on the River' festival will be held June 3 at Conrad's Ruth Villa in Middle River and will benefit the Marine Trades Association's Scholarship and Education Fund.

Debbie Henninger said she really enjoyed the eastern waterfront festival that attracted hundreds of residents to the Essex-Middle River area during the middle part of the last decade.

Now, she along with community activist Don Crockett, who is helping organize the event, hope this can be duplicated and help the Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County in the process on June 3 with the inaugural "Rockin' the River" festival.

Scheduled to run from 1-5 p.m. at Conrad's Ruth Villa in Middle River, the festival will feature popular regional bands "Faded Image" and "HyJinx." The , along with the East County Times, is co-sponsoring the event.

The cost of the event is $10 with food, beer and soda available for purchase. Proceeds from the event after expenses will benefit the Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County's Scholarship and Education Fund.

"Faded Image and Hyjinx attract a crowd wherever they play in the region," said Henninger, who is one the association's board of directors. "We're hoping they bring a lot of people out to our event and help raise money for a great cause."

Henninger said there will be 2,000 tickets available for the event and hopes they sell fast, given the inexpensive price and time of year it is scheduled.

"We're having it right as spring ends and the weather should be perfect," Henninger said. "It should be a great time for anyone looking to listen to some great music."
