Essex resident and photographer Kim Rivers took this picture of a hawk that was visiting her backyard recently.
Rivers keeps her yard well-stocked with bird feeders, which draw in a considerable number of customers.
But "now I'm starting to feel guilty," she said in an email to Patch. "I caught this hawk up in my tree watching my bird feeder. He has tried lots of times to get the birds. I know it is the circle of life, but I feel like I am setting the birds up, when in fact I love watching and taking pictures of them. It really is a beautiful bird and such pretty eyes."
