Essex Day Has Something Fun For Everyone

Music, cornhole tournaments and rides are among activities scheduled Sunday for the 34th annual Essex Day.

Country music, cornhole tournaments, kids rides and a karaoke contest are just some of the activities set for Sunday's 34th annual .

There will be more than 200 vendors, several music groups and even a number of big screen TVs — donated for the day by the Walmart on Carroll Island Road — on hand so people can watch the Ravens game at , said Paul Rufe, owner of the Lighthouse Café and an event organizer.

Margaret Avenue, where the TVs will be set up, also will be renamed Ravens Way for the day.

“We will have something for everyone,” Rufe said. “It’s a great event for the whole family.”

Essex Day activities will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be set up along Eastern Boulevard between Mace and Woodward avenues. Local country music group, , is among the headliners. The group is set to go on stage at 3 p.m.

Other groups set to perform, beginning at 2 p.m. are: “Terry Connelly and Star Position," “Gene Vincentt and the Cadillac Cruisers” and “The Landers and Heinz Project.”

“This is a community event that brings all of Essex together,” Rufe said.
