Country Band Offers 'Hometown' Fans New Year's Eve Celebration

Dean Crawford and the Dunn's River Band will rock in 2012 with a party at the VFW Post No. 2678 in Edgemere.

Dean Crawford might live in Reisterstown, but he has always considered eastern Baltimore County “home.”

The lead singer for country music group knows much of his fan base resides in places like Dundalk and Essex and tries to perform in the area as much as possible.

But in recent years, Crawford said the band has spent New Year’s Eve performing out of state, something that didn’t sit right with him.

“The more we thought about it, the more we knew we wanted to bring in the New Year with the people that love us the most,” Crawford said.

Crawford said along with wanting to perform locally, he also wanted to ensure that his core group of fans could afford to attend his show, bring the family and have a great time all at once.

A buffet, along with soda, draft beer and a champagne toast are included in the price. There is also a cash bar on the premises. Tickets are $25 for those 20 and younger and $35 for those 21 and older.

“We know a lot of people that have lost their jobs and/or had their hours cut back drastically in recent years,” Crawford said. “We wanted to put something together that was affordable and allowed adults to come out without having to worry about getting a baby sitter. We have fans that range from 8 to 80 years old.”

So far, Crawford said, the event has garnered a lot of support with more than 200 tickets sold. There are still a few dozen tickets remaining and he hopes to sell all 250 tickets they planned for the party.

“This party is a celebration for the New Year and a way to say ‘thank you’ to all of our fans in eastern Baltimore County,” Crawford said. “We hope to make this an annual event.”
