Out With Baltimore County States Attorney "Scott Shellenberger"

Justice For Bernadette S. Caruso   TOWSON/ESSEX, MARYLAND  A retired detective said he believes evidence points to a well-planned conspiracy in the disappearance of a young mother 26 years ago.Bernadette Caruso, 23, disappeared in 1986, and while investigators turned up circumstantial evidence, they have made no arrests and haven't filed any charges. The Caruso family said they've done everything imaginable by organizing numerous search parties, setting up a dedicated website, posting fliers and offering a reward. They've even consulted a psychic. After 26 years, they're left only with hope, fond memories and photographs.Sam Bowerman, a retired Baltimore County police homicide detective, worked on the Caruso case. In a twist of fate, he married the missing woman's sister."There is no doubt in my mind -- at that time and to this day -- that it was a very well-planned conspiracy to abduct and murder Bernadette. The proof is there has never been any trace of her or her car," Bowerman said.Caruso was last seen at 5:05 p.m. on Sept, 27, 1986, leaving work at Shaw's Jewelry store in the Eastpoint Mall. She told a co-worker that her estranged husband called her all day and wanted to meet with her, WBAL-TV 11 News reporter David Collins said.Caruso and her estranged husband were going through a heated custody battle over their 3-year-old daughter. Caruso also filed a domestic violence charge against him, and a court hearing was scheduled a week after she disappeared. The man had also been fired from the Baltimore County Police Department for abusing a prisoner. The Caruso family said his career in law enforcement meant everything to him, and his future was being threatened by a domestic violence allegation. When asked about a possible motive, Bowerman said, "Had he been found guilty of that domestic violence charge, it might have prevented him from pursuing his law enforcement career."Bowerman said Caruso's estranged husband threatened her life in front of others."He made a statement to her, 'You know that I'm a police officer, and I can get rid of you where nobody will ever find you,'" Bowerman said."Why do you believe Baltimore County prosecutors are so reluctant to bring this to a grand jury?" Collins asked."I think it is a difference of professional opinion," Bowerman said. "I hope it is not a question of them knowing they have to have a winner going in the door. This is one of those cases where it is not as clear cut."Despite what the family believes is substantial and solid circumstantial evidence, Caruso's estranged husband has never been named as a suspect. Since 1986, the Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office has refused to take any of the evidence before a grand jury. The case remains unsolved. In addition: Bob Austera, former retired Maryland Bondsman & Fugitive Apprehending Agent is in complete agreement with  Sam Bowerman, a Retired Baltimore County Police Homicide Detective That Once Worked The Caruso Case., Also Austera says we put the states attorney in office and we can remove him.  UPDATED06/16/14COMING EXCLUSIVEPossible Break: In The 27 Year Old Disappearance Of Bernadette CarusoFor nearly fourteen years, former Bail Bond Fugitive Recovery Agent Austera began looking  into Bernadettes disappearance after finding a Missing Persons Poster taped to the glass door of a Pawn Shop on Eastern Ave located in Essex, Baltimore County. The name on the poster caught Agent Austera eyes.
